Unlike traditional lighters, where you light the flame by rolling your thumb across the top of the striker and then down the back of the striker, simply push straight down from the tail or fin.
The History of the Douglass Field Lighter
The History of the Douglass Field Lighter
In 1926, an American oil lighter known as the Douglass lighter made its debut. It cost a whopping five dollars (most lighters of the time only cost 69 cents) and was known for being made with a high degree of skill and quality. While the original Douglass went extinct long ago, the Tokyo Pipe Co. brought the style back to life in 1993 through exceptional craftsmanship and a profound attention to detail.
